Today is National Donut Day! You might think that this would be one holiday (more like “holiday”) that would pass Paleo folks by, but nope! There are people who can work magic with grain-free ingredients in the kitchen, and I rounded up some of my favorites from real-food, grain-free bloggers. While these are most definitely treats and should be moderated as such, enjoy National Donut Day in grain-free style or bookmark this page/pin it to Pinterest for the next time you’re celebrating.
First up are some gorgeous grain-free Carrot Cake Fauxnuts by South Beach Primal (whenever I go to her site I fall down the best kind of rabbit hole into her Instagram and all of her purty photographs). All of the goodness of the real thing, yet made with almond flour and coconut flour!
Next up are some decadent grain-free Chocolate Covered Cake Doughnuts by A Girl Worth Saving. Also made with coconut flour, but this time paired with cashews. The creativity of the Paleo community is just astounding, isn’t it?
You probably already know Zenbelly by her No Joke Dark Chocolate Cake, but her Donut Holes, 2 Ways is a recipe worth knowing too! These sultry lil’ babies can be either coconut in cinnamon sugar or a chocolate glaze… and then FRIED.
Any grain-free donut roundup wouldn’t be complete without pumpkin donuts, and these Pumpkin Mini-Donuts from Just Enjoy Food are delightful representatives of the genre. I have never baked with Stevia before, but if any cute little recipe could tempt me to branch out, it’d be this one! P.S. I want that mug.
The recipes on Savory Lotus never fail to get my mouth watering, and these grain-free Carrot Cake Donuts are no exception. They differ from South Beach Primal’s in that they have shredded coconut and raisins as ingredients, among other variations between the two. Try them both, see which one you like best!
Last but definitely not least we have Broccoli, Cheese and Bacon Donuts from Scratch Mommy. Not only is this one of the few savory donut recipes I’ve seen (respect) but it has bacon. Enough said? Yes, I think so. Just omit the cheese if you’re sensitive to dairy and you should be good to go!
Well, which recipes did I miss? Post a link to your favorites in the comments, I’m always in the mood for a good grain-free donut recipe!
